This is the largest logistics center in France and was launched by Carrefour in 2018. It is located in Artenay-Pourpy, 30 km north of Orleans. This 135,000 m2 logistics center is located on a 34-hectare plot. The building has 23 cells measuring 6,000 m2 each, which are used for storage and preparation of non-food orders (drugstore, hygiene products, arts and crafts, gardening, furniture, stationery...).

This gigantic project is part of Carrefour's plan to review the logistics of all its stores in France. Poupry's logistics center is just one of the new 20 logistics centers, several of which are already in operation, including Nimes and Cholet. According to preliminary studies, this new logistics center will create around 310 new jobs, including 240 in logistics.

"This building is XXXL, but not just so we can say that it's the biggest, but because we need it," said Rémi Goleger, director of Carrefour Property, during a press conference at this logistics center.

Rémi Goleger adds: "What makes it a little special is that it is the first place where the Carrefour Group is printing its visual identity. In terms of design and exterior style, our goal is to make buildings qualitative and recognizable."

The logistics center has the BREEAM sustainable building certification , and intelligent lighting loT from the Spanish company Intelligent Lumen. Thanks to sensors integrated into light points, connectivity, information capture and software control, this system allows lighting to be adapted to real needs, with savings on energy consumption of 88% compared to conventional lighting technologies.

Intelligent Lumen’s LED technology luminaires have a motion sensor, ambient light sensor, consumption metering, wireless communication and a CPU that allows for storage of all the information captured by sensors. Each luminaire is controlled from the Intelligent Lumen Lighting Management Software, allowing programming based on usage, workload, work shifts, vacation days and calendar days. When installed, the luminaire light output ranges from 3.750 lumens to 74.250 lumens.

In the future, Carrefour will be able to implement IoT applications such as real-time positioning of assets and people within the facilities.
